A bone graft is a pretty common procedure designed to promote the regrowth of existing bone tissue. To perform this treatment, our office will either use existing bone inside your mouth or take donated bone from another source, then place that bone onto your existing jaw. While many patients will choose to have a bone graft after they’ve had missing teeth for many years, those who know they are going to need teeth extracted may want to be more proactive. After a tooth is extracted, the best way to maintain your existing bone tissue is to begin the grafting process immediately after.
