Dental Crowns & Bridges
Still two of the most common restorative dentistry services, dental crowns and fixed bridges give us the ability to fully repair damage and replace missing teeth. We use only the highest-quality materials to ensure crowns and bridges repair patients’ smiles to natural-looking, long-lasting perfection. The treatment process for both restorations is completed in two appointments. During the initial visit, we prepare the tooth or teeth, capture impressions for our lab, and place a temporary crown or bridge. Once we receive the final restoration, patients return to exchange their temporary for a high-quality, custom-crafted dental crown or fixed bridge restoration.
Root Canals
Root canals have an unfortunate and unfair reputation. In most cases, patients first know they need a root canal when they experience severe toothache and dental sensitivity. The treatment itself will significantly relieve toothache pain. These treatments are necessary when tooth decay or damage accesses the tooth’s nerve. Root canal therapy removes this damaged tissue, leading to almost instant pain relief. Once the damaged nerve tissue is removed, we refill the tooth with a similar substance, reseal the tooth, and place a dental crown to protect the treated tooth.
Extractions
The goal of restorative dentistry is typically to prevent the loss of natural tooth structures. However, there are some cases where our team is unable to preserve a damaged or decayed tooth despite best efforts. When these situations do occur, Dr. Nguyen puts his years of advanced training and experience to work in order to offer patients safe, comfortable tooth extraction procedures in our state-of-the-art dental office.
Some of the most common reasons we recommend tooth extraction include:
- Severe decay or damage that destroys so much of the tooth that a dental restoration cannot be supported
- Decay or damage that may lead to negative consequences for surrounding teeth and oral structures
- Preparation for orthodontic treatment, where crowding is the main concern and teeth may not be able to comfortably shift into alignment without the removal of one or more teeth
- To ensure the longevity of a partial or full denture, one or more compromised teeth may be removed to prevent the need to create an additional denture
- Wisdom teeth (third molars) are the last teeth to erupt into the smile, and they are often extracted because patients simply do not have adequate jaw space to accommodate these late-erupting teeth
